Winter Wonderland with SANTA!

On December 1st, we kicked off our Holiday Season with the lighting of our and tree, and a visit form the one and only Santa Clause! Cookies, hot chocolate, and coffee were served as everyone gathered around the fireplace to listen to the children and what they were asking Santa. Some of the things asked for were a fourwheeler, a scooter, a pink 22, and much more! One very sweet little boy took one of his sugar cookies to Santa and asked that he give it to his reindeer. It was a great night to forget about the worries of life and enjoy the snow, children, and the Spirit of Christmas!

Did You Know?

  • We offer daily recreational activities from Memorial Day Weekend until Labor Day Weekend? Hikes, crafts, games, campfire programs, fishing, and archery are just a few of the activities we offer. Almost all activities are free of charge!
  • We have teamed up with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife to provide a Fishing Loaner Program for our guests. The Recreation Department will loan you a fishing pole and tackle box if you have left yours at home.
  • The Recreation Department can plan and lead activities for school groups, corporate groups, birthday parties, etc.

Trail Information

This is a great time of the year to take a hike on our Lakeridge Trail. The leaves have fallen off the trees leaving spectacular views of the lake, and wonderful bird watching opportunities! The trail is approximately 1 mile long and runs from the lodge to the marina area and would be considered easy to moderate in difficulty.

Meet Your Recreation Staff

Sheila with Santa

Hello! My name is Sheila Jones and I have been the Recreation Supervisor here at Rough River since May 2007. I graduated from WKU (Go toppers!) in 2005 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation and Park Administration. Prior to this job, I have worked in recreation at Barren River Lake State Park, our local YMCA, and also spent some time volunteering at Mammoth Cave National Park. When I’m not at work, I love being outside- camping, fishing, boating, hiking, 4-wheeling, and all that fun stuff!
