Winter Rook Tournament

Round-robin rook tournament begins on Friday night & runs through Saturday evening. House rules will apply. Registration fee is $25/team and a new deck of rook cards. Early bird Registration fee is $20/team and a new deck of rook cards due on or before Jan. 9, 2008. Special lodging discount of two night's for the price of one for all registered participants. Oil Painting Weekend

If you've always wanted to learn how to paint, this is the weekend event for you!Learn the wet-on-wet method of oil painting by creating your very own 16x20 landscape painting. Our instructor, Walter Kunkle, who trained directly under Bob Ross, will demonstrate his talents Friday night then instruct the class on Saturday and Sunday. The fees are as follows: Package price including 2 nights lodging, Friday evening program, and one painting class $165, or fee for one painting class and Friday evening program $60. Valentine's Getaway

Scrapbooking Weekend

Whether you are an old pro at scrapbooking or just starting out this weekend is for you. Enjoy a spacious table to work all weekend, plus a goodie pack including a Creative Memories Paper Album, Pen & Tape Runner, and a Make and Take Class. There will also be a Creative Memories consultant on hand to help participants with there own scrapbooking. Registration costs $60, register by February 7th to get a $5 discount. Adventure Pennyrile Forest offers a naturalist guided hike in 2008. Hike half of the Pennyrile Nature Trail for a registration fee of $12 per person. Registration fee includes: transportation, a bottle of water, snack, and Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park Patch. Registered participants can get a 10% discount off park lodging. The hike is in Pennyrile State Forest and Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park and is over 6 miles. The trail rating is difficult. Registration deadline is one week prior to hike date. Easter Eggcitement

Make Easter Eggciting at Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park! Easter Buffet available at Clifty Creek Restuarant from Noon to 8PM. Pictures with the Easter Bunny ($1 per photo), and FREE egg hunt.The free egg hunt is divided into 4 age categories: three & under, four to six, seven to nine, and ten to 12. Hundreds of eggs will be hidden specifically for each age group. There will also be several special eggs with tickets for bonus prizes hidden inside. Event time: 12pm to 8pm.
Spring Photography Weekend

Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park's Spring Photography Weekend combines a digital photography contest and evening photography presentations. This weekend our photography professionals will be Susan & Richard Day of Daybreak Imagery (http://www.daybreakimagery.com/about.html). The digital contest has three divisions point & shoot, intermediate, and masters. The weekend ends with an awards ceremony and critique on Sunday morning. Bring your own camera. Registration for adults is $30 after April 5, or $25 on or before April 5th. Children 16 and under can compete in the competition for a reduced fee of $10. 10% discount on lodging available. Fishing Derby

This FREE event will allow children ages 5 to 15 to try their luck at fishing. Prizes will be given to the child who catches the most fish. Volunteers will be on hand to assist children. Fishing-related door prizes will be given away, and refreshments served. Advance registration is required by June 4th and participation will be limited to 50 children age 5 to 15. Geocaching Weekend

Geocaching is a fun new sport where people use their GPS units to find hidden treasures. Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park will host their Fourth Geocaching weekend October 3-5, 2008. There will be a night cache, find the most micro caches contest, first-to-find cache, and traditional caches. We guarantee at least 30 caches to find. $10 per geocacher, $5 if you register by September 25th. Event participants are eligible for a 10% discount on lodging.

Halloween Campout

During this spooky campout all registered campers will receive two nights camping for the price of one. A full schedule of Halloween programs will be available for the weekend including costume contests for adults and children, and a campsite decorating contest.
