Trail Information

Both trails are open. The Cherokee Trail which is a one mile walk starting at the hotel park lot, and continues as a loop or an extension leading to our second trail, Chickasaw Trail, which is a one mile, loop. You can use these trails together as a two mile trail from the lodge and back, or as an individual trail for an easier relaxing stroll.

Bluebirds: Take a stroll along our bluebird trail. Located roadside along the Cherokee wooded section leading toward the marina, and another section leading down the Tennis Center/Amphitheater road toward the old beach area.

Geo Caching

We have a cache on one of our trails, use your personal GPS unit to find it.

Tennis Center

Here at Kenlake we offer tennis year round. We have four indoor courts, with full shower and locker room services. We are open November 1st to April 1st. Our four outdoor courts are newly resurfaced and open year round.

Golf

Kenlake State Resort offers golfing at our Pro Shop where you can try to master our 9 hole executive type golf course. Beware!  It is not an easy course; with its 6 par three holes and 3 par four’s, it proves to be one of the most challenging in the area, and GREAT for practicing your short game!

Fishing

Kenlake is a great spot to take kids fishing, whether you wish to stay on the shoreline or venture out onto the lake on your own. A good alternative to trying to manage your own boat and attempting to find your own spot to fish is to hire a professional fishing guide. There are benefits to hiring a guide. You don’t have to worry about your boat, or worry about even owning a boat. Simply enjoy a family outing that brings smiles and memories for years to come. It also crates a unique, fun, and exciting day. A professional guide knows the best places to fish, and everything is provided, right down to the freezer bag you’ll place all the fish you caught in. Most guides will schedule your trip around your schedule. Everyone  over 16 years of age will be required to have a fishing license. If you don’t know where to find a respectable guide, call us here at Kenlake. We will hook you up! You’ll be glad you did.

Brad Weakley is a local professional fishing guide. He will accommodate full or half day trips. Brad, likemost guides, keeps a climatelog and fish location pattern records for future trips.

Recreation Activities

In the summer, recreation is offered at the park beginning in April with field trips from local area schools. Then we get ready for the local area tourist season when Memorial Day weekend hits!  Recreation activities are scheduled throughout the summer up to Labor Day weekend. Fall time brings Senior groups which travel to many Kentucky State Parks. These senior visits occur through mid-October. After which, the recreation staff prepares the Tennis Center for its annual opening date of November 1st… The Tennis Center is open for business from November 1st through the following April 1st.  During which, four different tournaments for Junior divisions are offered as well as one or two tournaments for the adults, in addition to several adult mixers (or get to know your area players).
