Earth Day Tygart Trek April 19th, 2008

Get out and enjoy the weather and wildflowers on this hike to promote Earth Day, which is April 22nd. The trail is fairly easy going following ridge lines and Pruitt Fork creek and ending along the lakeshore. Make sure to sign up now as space is limited.

Trail Information

The trail crew is here this month and is busy working to clear and blaze the trails. Watch for them while you’re out and give them a big Thank You for keeping our trails safe. Also, along the Tygart trail and roadways you will see dead pine trees. These were killed by the Southern Pine Bark Beetle in 2003, if you look closely, you can see where the beetle larvae bore into the inner bark, creating tunnels as they feed.

View trail information.

Other Recreation Information

The campground is still closed for renovation; the target opening date is Memorial Day weekend, check back to see the progress the construction crew is making.
