Women's Retreat and Chillin' at the Falls Weekend
1/18/08 to 1/20/08

Educational and Fun! Begin Friday night with and ice breaker. Saturday join other ladies as we learn together. Sessions include: Women and Investing, self defense tactics, women's health issues and relaxation. Keynote speaker, Teresa Bell Kindred, well-known speaker and author on issues relating to women will be focusing on "10 Tips for Reducing Stress". One MedSpa will lead a session on "Body and Self Image" and Saturday night is reserved for fun! Come prepared for the PJ party. Prizes will be given for the ugliest robe, funniest house shoes and most expressive PJ’s. If you choose, join in on some games; prizes for the winners! Prizes include a $50 gift certificate from Baptist Family Fitness, the Grand Prize is a $500 gift certificate from One MedSpa. Bring someone you know who needs to "Chill out" and relax.

Backcountry Adventure Series-Backpacking 101

Let the naturalist staff at Cumberland Falls teach you the basics of environmentally responsible backpacking while you enjoy a night in the beautiful Daniel Boone National Forest. These treks are guided overnight trips designed both for folks without a lot of experience in the backcountry as well as for more experienced backpackers who are interested in learning minimum impact camping techniques. Not only do we provide instruction on how to plan an overnight trip, but we also provide all of the equipment needed on your weekend with us. Each trip is approximately 8-10 miles round-trip with 300 feet of elevation change. Participants must be able to walk the distance carrying at least 25 pounds. Limited to ages 18 and up. Registration fee of $75 per person includes all equipment rental, instruction, and meals. Registrants will receive a list of suggested personal items to bring.

Valentine Getaway Weekend

Becoming an Outdoors-Woman: Family Oriented Weekend Activities

The Kentucky Department of Parks and the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources (KDFWR) have joined forces to conduct a special series of Becoming an Outdoors Woman workshops at various resort park sites across the state in 2008. The Becoming an Outdoors-Woman (BOW) workshops teach hands-on outdoor skills to adult women in a safe, supportive atmosphere. BOW is a non-profit, non-membership program offered through KDFWR with weekend workshops designed especially for women who are beginners, so no experience is necessary. All equipment is provided and course instruction is offered by patient, trained and enthusiastic instructors. Each event promises to be unique in highlighting each Parks focal point.

Easter Egg Hunt

A 1000-egg hunt for children ages 10 and under. There will be special prize eggs hidden. Located behind the community pool. Hunt begins at 2:30 p.m. sharp and gates open at 2:00 p.m.

Not only will you learn how to plan an overnight canoe trip, but we also provide all of the equipment needed. (Bring your own fishing gear). Limited to ages 18 and up. Registration fee of $75 includes all equipment rental, instruction, and meals. Registrants will receive a list of suggested personal items to bring prior to their trip. Meet at the Visitor Center at 9 a.m. to help restore Cumberland Falls back to its natural beauty. Volunteers receive a t-shirt and cookout lunch.

Backcountry Adventure Series-Day Long Adventure Hike

Love the outdoors but the thought of sleeping out is not for you? Then try out an all-day hiking excursion. Our hike will begin in the morning and we will stop for lunch along the trail. We will hike approximately 6 miles and be finished before dark. The registration fee of $15 includes lunch on the trail. Learn about native plant and animal life and experience some breathtaking views. Registrants will receive a list of suggested personal items to bring prior to their trip. Moonbow Trail Trek

Hikers can choose a challenging 4.5 or 10.8 mile trek through the beautiful Cumberland River Gorge. These Adventures are unguided but hikers will pass through check points along the way. Registration fee: $15.00. Event time: 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Historical Dinner Theater

Experience the fascinating lives of some of our past Kentuckians who had an influence on our culture. The Kentucky Chautauqua program brings these unique characters to life. Special Events

Known as the "Niagara of the South," the 125-foot wide curtain of water is dramatic day or night. But it's only at night during a full moon that you can see the moonbow, a phenomenon not found anywhere else in the Western Hemisphere.
