Wedding Anniversary of Thomas Lincoln and Nancy Hanks

Celebrate the wedding anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's parents, Thomas Lincoln and Nancy Hanks. They were married on June 12, 1806 near Springfield, Kentucky. This event will feature a play that portrays the 1806 wedding ceremony as they share their vows. There will also be plenty of music and dancing involved with the play. Interpreters portraying historical figures such as the first governor of Kentucky Isaac Shelby, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and more, will be performing. They will provide an educational opportunity for old and young alike. Also enjoy the “American Experience” that includes 1806 Oxen, a Flint Napper, a Wool Spinner, Tomahawk throwing, common people of the early 19th Century and other performers and interpreters of the early 19th Century. Crafts, games and activities for children and adults will also be on hand. The wedding ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. and at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The “American Experience”, historical interpreters and speakers, children and adult games and activities, and all other educational speakers and entertainment will be going on through out the entire day. Plan ahead to spend the entire day at Lincoln Homestead State Park, there will be shuttle services to and from parking, food vendors, gift shop and restrooms. You will leave with a true feel for American and Kentucky life in the early days of this great state and nation. There will be a $5.00 per car parking fee.
