Fort Boonesborough State ParkWhen Daniel Boone and his men reached the Kentucky River on April 1, 1775, they quickly moved to establish Kentucky's second settlement--the site still known as Fort Boonesborough.

Ernie Kurtz-18th Century Music and Interpretation

Ernie sings and plays mandolin, guitar, lute, and a little banjo. His focus is on the 18th Century, especially the Revolutionary War and the times surrounding it. The focus of his musical performance is to give people a window back into those times.

Esther Whitley-presented by Melanie Kuntz

Esther Whitley’s life exemplifies Kentucky’s pioneer women- strong, adventurous, and spirited. Ms. Whitley and her husband built the first brick home in Kentucky and the first “American” race track on which horses ran counter-clockwise on an oval track with a clay surface. She was also an accomplished markswoman. The Whitley’s gun is on display at the William Whitley House in Lincoln County.

Cherokee Peace Chief know as “The Little Carpenter”, played a key role in the famous land transaction known as the “Transylvania Purchase”. He negotiated the “sale” of what is now western and central Kentucky to the Transylvania Company headed by Richard Henderson. This led to Daniel Boone coming to Kentucky to settle Boonesborough in 1775.

Egg-citing Easter Fest

The Easter Bunny will be joining us for a weekend of fun. We will have scheduled times for, free putt-putt, bingo, free historic tours, a camper decoration contest, Easter crafts, an Easter egg hunt, a free continental breakfast and of course the kids will want their pictures taken with the Easter Bunny. For registered campers only.

    Frontier Stations Under Attack - at Boone Station
    4/19/2008 to 4/20/2008

    Not all conflicts at frontier stations have been mentioned in major accounts of our history. This event at Boone Station State Historic Site in Fayette County is representative of documented incidents that occurred during attacks on stations such as Ruddle's, Martin's, Morgan's, Strode's and many others on the Kentucky frontier. While not always playing a significant part in the larger picture of the Revolutionary War, these were life and death situations to many families of the early settlers. Visit camps of settlers and Native Americans as you learn about life during such times at early stations. See demonstrations of 18th century daily life and skills required to survive on the frontier. Demonstrations and camp touring begins at 9 a.m., and battle reenactments are at 2 p.m. each day.     Ice Pack Spring Car Show

    Camper Appreciation

    If you can't go to the Derby in Louisville, then join us for the weekend instead. We will have a scheduled time for a Kentucky Burgoo Supper, bingo, free putt-putt, free historic tours, a hayride, a scavenger hunt, a free Kentucky Derby Breakfast, a Kentucky Derby Contest and of course we watch the race on our big screen satellite TV.     Spring Camper's Yard Sale

    Clean out your closets and join us for a campground wide yard sale. Set up on your campsite and then enjoy browsing the other campsites. For registered campers only to sell but the general public is invited to shop. Registration fee: $10.

    NASCAR Fan Weekend

    Ladies and Gentlemen, start your engines and come on over. We will have racing crafts and activities for kids and scheduled times for free putt-putt, free historic tours, a pick the winner of the races contest, a support your favorite driver camper decoration contest and of course all the races on our big screen satellite TV.     Kentucky Blood Center Mobile Blood Drive
    5/24/2008

    We will be hosting a blood drive in the recreation hall in the campground. Donors will receive a gift from the blood center, a certificate for free games of put-putt and will be entered into a drawing for door prizes from Ft. Boonesborough State Park and area merchants. This event is open to the public.

    18th Century Trade Fair
    5/24/2008 to 5/25/2008

    Visit a social, political, and business gathering of merchants, traders, artisans, Native Americans, militia members, beggars, longhunters, scouts, and other frontier characters. Listen to period music, visit camps, and shop for 18th century goods as you compare your life today to life 225 years ago. See a weekend of 18th century frontier history come to life!     Birthday Party Weekend

    Kentucky River Heritage Weekend

    Women on the Frontier
    6/21/2008 to 6/22/2008

    The life experiences of frontier women will be presented during this two-day interpretive program. Included will be on-going demonstrations of daily life skills and the many tasks done by women on the frontier. There will be discussions and presentations of documented events of the frontier in which women were the main participants, and characterizations of individuals who experienced some of these dramatic events.     4th of July Fest

    Come celebrate our nation's birthday with five days of patriotic activities.     Living History - 18th Century Military/Militia Muster
    7/26/2008 to 7/27/2008

    Our regular monthly Living History Weekend for July includes special participation by members of Keller's and Logan's Companies of the Illinois Regiment. Visit the encampment of these groups and settlers as well. Watch as the units drill and practice the martial skills of the frontier. Join up as a new recruit from the visiting public and participate in musket drill and marching. Hear and see the story of the defense of the frontier.     Reenactment of The 1778 Siege of Boonesborough
    9/27/2008 to 9/28/2008

    Come early and spend the day learning about 18th century life in Kentucky. This is a living history reenactment including militia and settlers' camps, Native American village, merchants, traders, and more. Visit the Transylvania Store for authentic 18th century items, and the park gift shop. Battle reenactment at 2 p.m. each day, with a special "night battle" at dusk on Saturday evening.     Hammer-In
    10/6/2008 to 10/7/2008

    See and learn about an ancient craft kept alive even to this day! Join a group of blacksmiths as they gather to demonstrate projects and techniques, trade ideas and information, swap tall tales of the forge, and offer hand-forged items for sale. Blacksmiths are also invited to bring along their portable forges, start up the fire, and join in! Find out the answers to your questions, and maybe even try your hand at a simple forging project.     Boonesboro Boogie Car Show

    Halloween Fest XIV

    Come early and join us for our 14th annual and biggest Halloween Party yet as we celebrate with 13 days and nights of fun and frights. We will have scheduled times for haunted putt-putt, camper decoration contests, costume contests, ghost walks, a bean supper, a pancake breakfast, parade, hayrides, crafts and games, haunted hikes, bingo, trick or treating, live entertainment and lots, lots more.     A Kentucky Woodsmans Weekend

    Camper's Thanksgiving

    Ft. Boonesborough Foundation 5K Race
    11/8/2008

    Come and join us for a 5K race over the historic grounds of Ft. Boonesborough State Park. Awards to winners in several categories and all participants will receive a tee shirt. There is an entry fee with proceeds going to the non-profit Ft. Boonesborough Foundation.

    Winter Trade Days
    11/24/2008 to 11/25/2008

    18th century merchants and traders in period clothing set up shops in the cabins and blockhouses of the fort. All items for sale are typical of things available in the 18th century.
